Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Works

“Hyper” means increased “Baric” relates to pressure

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a painless procedure in which a person is exposed to increased pressure, thus allowing greater absorption of oxygen throughout the body tissues. This increased pressure allows more oxygen to reach the cells within the body therefore contributing to the many healing and therapeutic benefits. The concept of Hyper oxygenation has been in existence as early as 1662 but has only gained recognition in conventional medicine over the past 40 years.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy increases oxygen intake. On average a person's oxygen intake is 21%. Once entered into a hyperbaric chamber, pressurization and 100% oxygen is administered at prescribed rates. In doing so, the body and particularly the brain, has the opportunity to heal because the oxygen has fully saturating the body (Oxygen is known for it’s natural healing effects).
